I’d had several conversations with my dad about his rationale for naming me Dexter and he’d iterated on those several occasions that he wanted to give me a name that was unique and racially ambiguous; a name that carried a sense of prestige and ‘honor’ (if you will). This composition is the result of research on the etymology and history of my name. Pretty poignant if I must say so myself.
More [+]“This Simple” is a song created from pure personal inspiration. It’s a wandering, yet precise subject matter that describes a shift in my outlook on life and the gifts I’ve been endowed. From hiding behind my craft because of insecurity to embracing my “differences” for what they offer my creative pursuits….
More [+]Stairs to success is an piece created for the purpose of increasing awareness of NC State’s women’s basketball team. It serves as anthem for not just the women’s basketball team but for Wolfpack fans alike who love reppin’ the Red & White.
More [+]The song I Want You was my attempt to demonstrate a heart’s longing for someone special and the mind’s chant to the deaf ears of fate. Written by songwriter Mattie Bethea and myself, I Want You paints a portrait of love that needs no interpretation. It features the vocal stylings of Mattie Bethea accompanied by the infectious sound that is DAP.
More [+]The truth can be lost in a world of lies and sometimes hidden from view, but you can guarantee it’s always going to be there (here). The DAP track The Truth borrows from several musical genres in its instrumental form. It pairs its free-flying stylistics with a deep theme and lyrics to give you what is a sound play fit for Broadway.

More [+]Wolf Coming Out is an anthem and was written for that purpose. In the past I have received accolade for my vocal delivery and in some ways take pride in “telling the story,” so with this track it’s no different. At first listen, it doesn’t deliver a knock-out blow, but it is catchy, and that wears on you. Give it a spin…
More [+]The title of the track G.O.D.J.G.O. is a creative, yet irrelevant acronym that really isn’t even an acronym. The punctuation of the title was done deliberately to mirror the repetitive and infectious rhythm of the song itself. Pairing a little bit of rock & and hip hop has proven to be a nifty combo (just ask Run DMC). Listen closely and you may be able to recognize the samples. Kubashi!
More [+]This particular track started out as a sample from the Cameo single “Word Up” and was originally just going to be an instrumental. After admiring the sound of it after I added the percussion and giving it that custom DA flare I decided to write something to it. *Decent
