My inspiration for the words to this lyrical composition were derived partly from my imaginative musings as well as research on what my name meant on a etymological and spiritual level. The result is a guileless account of “Dexter” the name and the man. Hope you learn something.

Feb/9/11 Dexter 1

I’d had several conversations with my dad about his rationale for naming me Dexter and he’d iterated on those several occasions that he wanted to give me a name that was unique and racially ambiguous; a name that carried a sense of prestige and ‘honor’ (if you will). This composition is the result of research on the etymology and history of my name. Pretty poignant if I must say so myself.
